Sanctuary’s Clinical Program offers an array of therapeutic and supportive services to women and children in English, Spanish, and French. Clients face a variety of issues and come from many different cultural backgrounds, making it critical for our counseling program to meet all of their needs.
The following targeted programs are available through the Clinical Program:
- Hotline: provides assistance and brief interventions to callers who reached out for safety planning, crisis counseling, legal advice, information, and referrals.
- Individual and Group Counseling: provides supportive counseling services to address our client's experiences of abuse.
- African Domestic Violence Initiative: provides legal representation,
advice, and referrals to African battered women in family law,
immigration, matrimonial, child welfare, public benefits, and related
legal matters.
- Continuing Care Program: assists women transitioning from shelter into new homes in new communities.
- Housing and Benefits Program: offers battered women assistance and advocacy in applying for public benefits and in securing, retaining, or reestablishing permanent housing.
- FamilySafe Initiative: addresses the special needs of children who are
subjects of child welfare legal proceedings as a result of having been
exposed to domestic violence.
- LGBTQ Project: provides targeted outreach and services to LGBTQ victims of domestic violence.
- Mentors Program: a collective of former Sanctuary clients who have been violence-free for a year or more and who have undergone training to become community advocates. The mentors make presentations on topics related to domestic violence to community groups throughout New York City.
- Sex Trafficking Pilot Project: This pilot project provides targeted outreach and services to victims of sex trafficking.
