The transition from shelter to permanent housing can be a difficult adjustment for domestic violence survivors and their children. To this end, Sarah Burke House provides clients with programming, such as peer support groups co-led by survivors, financial education workshops, job preparation sessions and basic computer classes prior to their departure in an effort to prepare them for this next step. In addition, once clients are living on their own in the community, the program continues to support them around the transition, in obtaining their individual goals and in remaining free from violence.
